Brenner Operngrill
Altstadt-Lehel
Open-fire grill and pasta counter under the Marstall's columned hall.
The Bavarian classic across from the Opera, two floors of it.
Run by the Kuffler family directly opposite the Bavarian State Opera, Spatenhaus has been Munich's go-to room for serious Bavarian cooking before and after performances since the late nineteenth century. Ground floor is full Bavarian — Schweinshaxe, white sausage, Tafelspitz, the proper roast pork — under wood beams; upstairs is more international with fish and Austrian dishes. Sunday brunch through the cooler months is a Munich fixture. This is the local-correct answer when the question is 'where's the Bavarian room that isn't a tourist tavern'.
Ask for an upstairs window table looking over the Opera. Sunday brunch resumes October 11, 2026.
