Rita and Koko Fesçi's handmade-pasta room on Adliye Caddesi, the Bitez village pasta address since 2012.
Melina Kırmacı's family-recipe Italian kitchen, set inside a mandarin and lemon orchard in inland Bitez.
Trattoria il Mandarino runs from inside an orchard of mandarin and lemon trees on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Caddesi, the inland line of Bitez. Melina Kırmacı opened the room with her husband Cenk on the back of her grandmother's recipe book, and the kitchen reads as exactly that: handmade pasta, antipasti plates, fritto misto and cannoli siciliano done the way an actual Italian family does them rather than the way a Bodrum villa-club gestures at Italian. The dining room is poolside in summer and fireplace-warmed in winter. The setting is the orchard, the timing is the slow Aegean evening, and the chapter holds Trattoria il Mandarino as the village-side counterweight to the seafront strip — the booking made when the family wants the orchard quiet rather than the beach-club noise.
Reservation only, especially Friday and Saturday in season. The fritto misto and the cannoli siciliano are the family-recipe markers; ask the kitchen to pace a long table. The orchard tables go first, then the pool edge, then the indoor room — request in that order.
