Kalamare sits on Neyzen Tevfik's quieter, western stretch where the gulets moor and the locals still walk the seafront. The kitchen is old-school Aegean, the meze counter is one of the best in town, and the family that runs it has held the lease since the bay was empty by ten.
Editor's Tip
Begin at the meze counter rather than the printed menu. The grilled octopus and the piyaz have not changed in twenty years; that is the point.
