The three-storey stone house on Cumhuriyet was the home of Sadun Boro, the first Turk to circle the world by sail. The family that took it over kept the rooms, the maritime drawings and the ground-floor garden, and turned the rest into a serious meyhane: cold mezes from the tray, Aegean wild herbs, lamb-stuffed aubergine. On summer nights a kanun plays Turkish art music on the top terrace; the castle sits in the frame.
Editor's Tip
Ask for the top terrace and arrive after 21:30 for the kanun. Skip the printed menu; the meze tray and the day's grilled fish are why the room runs full.
