Bitez

The casual bay — shallow water, beach-club lunch, family-trip Bodrum

Bitez is the casual position — the wide southern bay families end up at when the kids need shallow water and the parents want lunch without the marina circus. The shoreline is the peninsula's old windsurf and waterski centre, the bay floor stays knee-deep for fifty metres, and the seafront runs as a single line of beach-club lunchrooms with iskele restaurants between them. The shift here is afternoon: a long lunch, sun beds until five, an early dinner at a fish room and home before midnight. Reservation pressure is moderate — weekend lunch in August yes, anything else walk-in workable. Skip the dinner-club versions; the Bitez pattern is daytime, and the kitchens that overreach at night usually disappoint.
