Bodrum's only real Spanish house — Neco's San Sebastián tapas on a 300-year-old stone street
Chef-owner Nejmettin 'Neco' Kılıç trained in San Sebastián and has run La Pasion since 2008 in a restored 300-year-old stone building on the alley that locals call Spanish Street, off Atatürk Caddesi in old-town Bodrum. The kitchen still works without the costume tricks the rest of the country attaches to Spanish food: pintxos at the bar, jamón cut to order, paella properly socarrat, a sherry list that runs past the manzanilla. The peninsula's only Spanish room that an İstanbullu who knows San Sebastián or Madrid wouldn't apologise for.
Sit at the bar, order a Tio Pepe and three pintxos before deciding on the paella — Neco still cuts the jamón himself most nights. The stone alley is the room.
