Gümüşlük
A quieter alternative on the Gümüşlük iskele, run by a fishing family
A direct-on-the-water Gümüşlük fish room with the boats and Rabbit Island a metre from the table
Yakamoz sits on the Gümüşlük seafront with tables a metre from the water and the silhouette of Tavşan Adası closing the bay. The room is the working version of a Gümüşlük balık evi: a fish-and-meze card built on what the morning boats land, the standard Aegean register of sea bass, sea bream, bluefish, shrimp, squid and octopus, and the kind of seasonally rotating cold mezes the village considers obligatory. The crowd skews local and Istanbul summer-house, less yacht-traffic than the rooms further down the iskele, and the value of the booking is the direct waterfront seat with the bay's working harbour as the backdrop.
The waterfront seats fill first; book a fortnight ahead for August weekends. Grilled red mullet (barbun) and the shrimp güveç are the through-lines; pair with a cold rakı and lemon on the side.
