The family that took it over kept the rooms, the maritime drawings and the ground-floor garden, and turned the rest into a serious meyhane: cold mezes from the tray, Aegean wild herbs, lamb-stuffed aubergine. On summer nights a kanun plays Turkish art music on the top terrace; the castle sits in the frame.
