Balıkçı Hasan opened this corner of Çökertme Caddesi when Yalıkavak was a fishing village rather than a marina, and the family has worked the room ever since. The format has not changed: an ice counter at the entrance, a meze tezgahı that runs deep, the day's catch grilled over coals at the back. It is the table the older İstanbul yazlıkçı still chooses over the marina.

Skip the printed menu — walk to the ice counter and pick. The trança levrek and a tray of sigara böreği keep the table sensible while the fish goes on the coals.
