İdris Bey buys the fish at the Akyarlar pier each morning; Gülcan Hanım runs the meze tezgâh out the back. Forty years of that quiet division have made Mehtap the unflashy reference point of the southern Bodrum coast — a low harbour-side room facing Kos, an honest ice display, mezes (taze barbunya, deniz börülcesi, ahtapot salatası) that arrive without flourish. Reserve in August; the regulars do.
Aim for a 19:30 table for the Kos sunset, then stay through dinner. The grilled ahtapot is the order; ask İdris Bey what came in that morning.
